Day Fitter £19.98 per hour Benefits 8.45 - 17.00 Monday to Friday As a Day Fitter at Arriva, you will be responsible for the routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of our fleet of buses to ensure their safe and reliable operation throughout the day. * Perform scheduled preventative maintenance checks and inspections on buses, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, electrical systems, and bodywork. * Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults efficiently and effectively. * Conduct roadside assistance and recovery when required, ensuring minimal disruption to services. * Carry out routine servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication. * Identify and report any major defects or persistent issues to the workshop supervisor. * Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed. * Adhere to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards. * Work collaboratively with other technicians and operational staff to ensure fleet availability. * Keep the workshop and work areas clean, tidy, and organized. Job Qualifications * A recognized apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. * Proven experience as a Fitter or Mechanic, preferably within a commercial vehicle or bus environment. * Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. * Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools. * A full, clean UK Driving Licence is essential; a PCV (Category D) licence is highly desirable, or willingness to obtain one. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. * Excellent communication skills and attention to detail. * Flexibility to work various shifts, which may include weekends and public holidays, as required by operational needs.
