Overview
We have an exciting opportunity on Brackendale Ward Wirral, for a Clinical Ward Manager who has the ability to provide management and clinical leadership to the multi-disciplinary team. Brackendale Ward is an adult acute ward based in Springview.
Responsibilities
* Support the team to deliver person‑centred care in collaboration with service users, carers and families, external partners and agencies.
* Provide line management and clinical leadership to the nursing and MDT.
* Ensure person‑centred care is delivered and meets standards for Quality and Safety in partnership with service users and carers.
* Have overall management and clinical responsibility for the delivery of safe, compassionate care within the unit, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
* Lead a team of staff in the delivery of high‑quality evidence‑based practice, ensuring that regular supervision and appraisal takes place.
* Ensure systems are in place to manage administrative and operational resources in a cost‑effective manner, evaluating the standard of service delivered.
* Co‑ordinate multidisciplinary working, maintaining excellent communication and working relationships with all team members, and the wider unit to ensure effective interface and continuity of care between disciplines and services.
* Carry out nursing procedures to a standard that ensures safe and effective care and complies with the NMC Code of Conduct.
* Ensure the 6C's underpin the practice and delivery of care on the ward.
* New starters will commence in post on one fixed start date each month, in line with our Prepare to Care (P2C) induction programme date. P2C offers up to 3 weeks training to support you to meet the induction / initial training requirements of the role.
Qualification Requirements
* Registered Nurse (Mental Health/Learning Disability) or equivalent registration.
* Degree in nursing or equivalent.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Registered General Nurse (RGN) registration.
* Advanced clinical skills course.
* Masters degree or working towards in related clinical speciality, specialist clinical knowledge of medical and psychiatric conditions, diagnosis, treatment and care including contraindications and side effects to medication, relevant to the health speciality.
* Knowledge & understanding of Recovery Model of Care.
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation and quality framework associated with the clinical speciality (e.g. MHA, Clinical & Social Governance).
* Understanding and appreciation of Safeguarding procedures.
* Understanding of the role and function of other organisations providing services to people with mental health needs and how these complement services the NHS provides.
* Knowledge of performance management procedures.
* Knowledge of transformation or transactional change.
* Awareness of planning & developing services processes.
* Knowledge of the wider NHS Agenda including best practice.
* Advanced computer skills and use of spreadsheets.
* Experience of managing clinical practice at Band 6.
* Experience of leading on Safeguarding issues including providing advice and guidance to other staff.
* Experience in supporting clients with complex needs.
* Experience of clinical practice development.
* Experience of implementing and monitoring standards of care.
* Experience of managing clinical risk effectively.
* Experience leading and managing a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience of providing clinical and managerial supervision.
* Experience of working in a multicultural environment and knowledge of methods to develop culturally sensitive practice.
* Experience of recruitment and selection of staff.
* Evidence of undertaking audit work.
* Experience of working with other client groups and of using a variety of models and approaches to care.
* Experience of managing staff performance.

* UK professional registration is required.
