Unpaid Work Supervisor – Annan
Salary: £24,405.92 - £25,631.17
Location: Annan (primarily at the Annan unit) with some work in surrounding areas and/or from the Dumfries unit. Working days are from 8:30am until 3:45pm, 29 hours per week (4 days), including some weekends. The post is part of Scotland's Community Payback Scheme and involves supervising Unpaid Work groups in the East of the region.
Responsibilities
* Supervise Unpaid Work groups, promoting safer and constructive activities that support positive outcomes for individuals who have committed offences.
* Engage with the community and create opportunities for attendees to share their skills and experiences (e.g., woodwork, painting, horticulture, community engagement).
* Ensure Health and Safety compliance and operate within Health and Safety regulations.
* Foster a non-judgemental environment and use prosocial modelling to support participants.
* Utilise a variety of skills and interests to benefit groups and individuals, and actively identify opportunities for personal development within the programme.
* Travel between locations as required (Annan unit and Dumfries unit) who may be involved in surrounding areas.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Experience working with groups and some supervisory experience; experience with individuals who have committed offences is advantageous.
* Understanding of the risks, needs and life experiences of those who have entered the Justice system; ability to work in a non-judgemental manner.
* Good understanding of Health and Safety principles; ability to work within Health and Safety regulations.
* Trade or professional experience is not essential; practical skills (e.g., woodwork, painting), an interest in horticulture, and community engagement experience are beneficial.
* PVG requirements: posts are Regulated Work; preferred candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or have a PVG scheme update before a formal offer is made.
* Disclosure: applicants resident outside the UK within the last 5 years will need to provide a police record check from the relevant country in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check.
* A current driving licence is an essential requirement; alternatives may be considered if disability prevents driving and alternative transport can be arranged.
