Overview
This position involves delivering electrical engineering solutions in a WSP project manager capacity, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction across diverse building services projects.
Responsibilities
* Meet the requirements of an Electrical Engineer grade and have a proven track record delivering projects in line with client expectations.
* Work in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team, providing design and technical advice on a wide range of projects.
* Review design programmes and ensure sufficient resources are available to complete work inline with technical and commercial performance and delivery.
* Operate with initiative and minimal supervision on all technical aspects of the discipline, or have specialist experience specific to the role.
* Interpret client needs and project scopes to meet overall delivery objectives.
* Promote WSP’s capabilities and expertise within the region.
* Supervise the completion of detailed designs and oversee work of others in this function.
* Lead feasibility studies and assess project feasibility from a discipline perspective.
* Direct the production of detailed and performance specifications for the discipline, subject to peer review before issue.
* Develop and line‑manage junior staff.

* Building Services in Cardiff comprises 20 MEP engineers and sustainability consultants as part of a national MEP team of nearly 400 engineers.

* Be based in the Cardiff office, with easy commuting via Cardiff Central and Queen Street train station and access to the city centre.
Electrical Design Skills
* Low voltage distribution systems
* Cable calculations via ElectricalOM or Amtech / by hand
* Lighting calculations (software and by hand)
* Energy lighting
* Small power
* Fire detection & alarm
* Intruder detection
* Access control & security systems
* Disabled call systems
* Data cabling and outlets
* Lightning protection
Qualifications
* BEng/BSc/MEng in an applicable engineering discipline.
* Chartered status with CIBSE, IET or Engineering Council, or working towards it.
* RevitMEP training in the discipline.
* Proven track record delivering a variety of projects in scale and sector.
* Strong client, contractor and design team engagement skills.
* Capability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically.
* Detailed understanding of regulations applicable to the discipline.
* Working knowledge of latest electrical design software packages.
* Proficiency with Revit MEP or other 3D design software.
* Ability to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC).
