We are seeking a skilled Engineering Programme Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering management and project leadership, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project goals. This is a permanent role based in Exeter, offering a competitive salary alongside a car allowance, excellent benefits, and development opportunities within our established Engineering team.
About the role:
As Programme Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and delivery of a £50m Capital Programme. Supporting our Tier 1 and Tier 2 Framework partners, you will ensure governance and budgets are in place ahead of the programme, mitigating delays and ensuring correct governance is maintained.
What you'll be doing:
1. Oversee the design and delivery of the £50m Capital Programme annually, supporting Tier 1 and Tier 2 Framework partners to ensure governance and budgets are in place, mitigating delays.
2. Prioritize safety, ensuring everyone who works for us at Pennon can return home safe and well each day; this is your principal responsibility as a senior manager.
3. Support the implementation of robust and compliant governance, ensuring works orders and instructions are only issued once capital expenditure is sanctioned by the Board and in line with the agreed budgets.
4. Present monthly project and programme forecasts to the designated area Director, proactively managing exceptions and keeping the Director informed of any budget risks, maintaining trust and confidence.
5. Lead regular audits on health, safety, quality, environment, and other critical controls, presenting findings and implementing improvements as needed.
6. Ensure solutions designed and installed meet the highest standards of water quality, environmental protection, and public health standards.
7. Support the growth and development of our people through regular one-to-ones, training, and appraisal processes.
8. Maintain and review a comprehensive risk register, mitigating risks and seeking opportunities with your designated Director.
What we're looking for:
* Relevant degree in Engineering or equivalent (desirable).
* Experience with Commercial Management and NEC protocols.
* Professional status in Engineering or Project Management (desirable).
* Proven project delivery and team management experience.
* Experience managing budgets within large organizations.
* Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
* Ability to manage stakeholder groups and balance diverse needs.
* Full UK driving license.
