Departmental Line of Business IT Services teams are responsible for supplying departmental specific IT services and products to meet business needs. This includes the full range of activities from analysis, specification, development, testing, operation through to maintenance and support of applications and systems. Other activities include IT advice and guidance and contract management services on behalf of their parent department. Please see employer website for full job details & person specification.


Responsibilities

* Solution Development and Implementation. Development, implementation, delivery, support and maintenance of secure IT systems and services. Assisting with contract/procurement service account management activities.
* Systems Development. Involvement in the design, creation, and testing of new and amended programs. Assisting with the design, coding, and testing of simple programs. Supporting software implementation.
* Information Content Authoring. Assisting with the planning, design, and creation of textual information. Helping determine the needs of users and designing documentation accordingly.
* Database/Repository Design. Involvement in the specification and design of databases to support business needs. Assisting in database management system support activities.
* Database Administration. Assisting in the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of databases.
* Systems Design. Assisting in specification and design of information systems and their components to meet defined business needs. Undertaking design of simple applications using standard templates and tools.
* Testing. Assisting in defining test requirements, creating test scripts, supporting data, interpreting, executing, and recording simple test cases in accordance with established plans. Analysing and reporting test activities and results.


Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

* Applicants must, by the closing date for applications: 1) Have applied for IT Networking Infrastructure or IT Software Development Apprenticeship Programme advertised by Belfast Metropolitan College in partnership with Dept for Economy.
* And have successfully obtained the appropriate standard in the ICT aptitude test (as provided by Mindmill).
* AND 2) Possess five GCSEs, at Grade C or above, which includes English Language and Mathematics, AND a pass at A or AS level in any subject area (or an equivalent qualification in any discipline).
