Overview
Great Oaks College is a specialist independent college open to students across three sites. We provide further educational opportunities to students aged 19–25 with moderate, severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties, many of whom have additional needs such as physical disabilities, sensory impairments and autism. We run three Pathways: Vocational, Life and Living, and Engagement for Life. In January 2025 we are relocating two sites to our new main college building in Sunbury-on-Thames (Surrey).
Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team. Ideally, candidates will hold a Level 2 or 3 qualification and have prior experience working in a classroom setting. However, if you are passionate about this role and available, we may offer training to become an LSA (salary scale 4 Inner London).
Responsibilities
* Support students with special educational needs (SEN) in a college setting, promoting inclusive learning and progress.
* Be calm, patient and work effectively as part of a team.
* Be physically fit and willing to support all aspects of personal care, including toileting and feeding.
Essential qualities
* A genuine passion for supporting students with SEN is essential.
* Demonstrate commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Requirements and conditions
* All positions are subject to a satisfactory, enhanced DBS check with adult barring and references; completion of a twenty-six working week probation period.
* Start date: October/November 2025 (depending on compliance checks).
* Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time Only (39 weeks).
* Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30–15:15 (30 hours per week).
* Pay: Inner London Pay Scale 5, with actual salary £23,729–£25,149 per annum for full-time equivalent in a 52-week year.
