This role will lead research activities that shape user‑centred digital services for the Department for Work & Pensions.
Base pay range
Competitive pay of up to £68,205, with pension contributions and holiday package as detailed below.
Responsibilities
* Lead research using both qualitative and quantitative methods to inform service design.
* Identify problems, select appropriate research approaches and provide actionable insights that influence policy, content and interaction design.
* Collaborate with agile teams and stakeholders to ensure user experience remains at the heart of development.
* Advocate for inclusive practices, ensuring diverse user needs are considered.
Qualifications
* Experience in user research or equivalent research fields.
* Knowledge of a range of research methods, with the ability to select the most appropriate one for the project.
* Significant experience planning and conducting research that considers diversity of users, access needs and ethical standards.
* Proven track record generating new insights that influence decisions within a team.
* Strong communication skills, able to present insights to project teams and wider stakeholders.
What we offer
Location: Join our digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle‑upon‑Tyne and Sheffield. Regular travel between hubs is expected.
Hybrid working: 40% remote, 60% onsite.
Pay: Up to £68,205.
Pension: 28.97% employer contribution, worth £16,786 per year.
Holidays: 26–31 days, plus up to 3 extra days off per month on flexi‑time and all public holidays.
