Who is ETZ
Energy Transition Zone Ltd (ETZ) exists to accelerate the northeast of Scotlands journey to a clean energy future - attracting investment, creating jobs, and positioning Aberdeen as a global hub for the energy transition. Were a tight-knit, purpose-driven team with accessible leadership, a genuine investment in our people, and a shared belief that the work we do has real, lasting impact on the region were proud to call home.
The Role
This is the senior marketing role within ETZ - reporting to the CEO and leading a team of two. Youll own the marketing function: strategy, planning, delivery, and budget. Youll set the direction, manage the workload, and be the person the organisation turns to when it needs to communicate with confidence. Crucially, youll be the manager who invests time in team members’ development, stretches their capabilities, and brings out the best in them. Line management experience is a prerequisite.
ETZ has a busy events and conference calendar ahead, and this role sits right at the centre of it. Youll plan, coordinate, and deliver ETZs event presence end-to-end, from logistics and stakeholder liaison to managing our exhibition space and representing the organisation in the room. Alongside that, youll be producing the content that keeps ETZ visible and credible across LinkedIn, newsletters, partner communications, industry media and more.
ETZs model is built on partnership. Youll be working with external partners, funders, and stakeholders - building relationships that support the organisations mission and project delivery. An understanding of Aberdeens landscape, its stakeholders, and its communities will help you hit the ground running.
About you and what you’ll need
Proven people leadership
Youve managed people before and youre good at it. You know how to give direction, create accountability, and invest in someones development.
Marketing ownership
Youve built and delivered marketing plans - not just contributed to them. Youre comfortable owning the full cycle from strategy to execution, and you manage budgets and resources without needing to be chased.
A writers instinct
You can draft a LinkedIn post, an internal newsletter, and a stakeholder briefing - and theyll all sound like they came from the same confident, credible voice.
Knowing the tools
You will need to have a sound knowledge or understanding of some of the following marketing tools: Canva, Campaign Monitor, Craft CMS, Veed, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom. You don’t need to have every element, as training will be given.
A proactive mindset
You dont wait to be told what needs doing. You spot the gap, pick up the task, and get on with it - even if its not strictly in your job description. Youre a team player in the truest sense.
A feel for the Northeast
You dont need to be an energy expert, but an understanding of Aberdeen, the northeast of Scotland, and the landscape in which ETZ operates will make a real difference to how quickly you can contribute.
