Responsibilities
* Strategy: Review previous seasons and produce SWOT analysis with supporting information. Collaborate with the Merchandiser and Buyer to create the department strategy and present it.
* Plan: Create category level product mix using history, SWOT and SMT Plan; formulate space and grading plan for store distribution; ensure WSSI is updated with buy plan and KPI’s signed off; attend key selection meetings; build the Range plan; build layout plans with buying and VM; ensure scheduling and Ideals are in place; manage stock seasonality within the WSSI.
* Stock: Overview ratios for all buys with Assistant Merchandiser; ensure Buy aligns with the plan Buy; establish relationships with supplier base; manage order books in season and preseason to keep information accurate; manage intake at category and line level.
* Trade: Review weekly trading performance and KPI achievement; propose actions to recover risk and maximise opportunities; capture actions in monthly forecast reviews; forecast from category/season level to Buyer Group; obtain approvals where needed; manage forecast variances and create OTBs; manage commitments, markdown proposals, and provide Rack/Hit Lists; manage the range plan and line cards; visit stores and communicate actions to the retail team; ensure store option plans optimize stock levels.
* Behavioural: Deliver excellence, take ownership, work as a team, demonstrate leadership, and communicate clearly.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
* Experience within a similar role is essential
* Experience within a sports/fashion retailer is advantageous
* Highly numerate with a strong commercial focus
