calfordseaden is a leading multi‑disciplinary construction and property consultancy providing services across the built environment, including Architecture, Building Information Management (BIM), Building Safety, Engineering, Fire Safety, Health and Safety, Surveying, Sustainability and more.
Role and Responsibilities
The Senior Employer’s Agent will provide a professional service to clients as an Employer’s Agent (EA) under JCT Design and Build Contracts and Bespoke Development Agreements. Projects are based across the West and East Midlands and surrounding counties.
 * Act as Employer’s Agent, Client Representative or Contract Administrator for project delivery.
 * Manage projects independently from brief to completion, maintaining high standards for quality and accuracy.
 * Procure necessary consultancy services to develop projects to planning submission/tender.
 * Prepare robust tender and contract packages, conduct tender reviews and produce tender reports and value‑for‑money statements.
 * Assess site works at each valuation interval and review against project cash flow forecast; produce final account documents and reports.
 * Review Contractor/Developer and designer proposals to ensure employer requirements are fulfilled.
 * Conduct regular site inspections, including snagging inspections, end‑of‑defects period inspections and handovers.
 * Prepare employer requirements, client specifications and contract documents; assist senior colleagues with complex projects.
 * Prepare risk registers, dashboard reports and monthly financial reports.
 * Chair meetings, take minutes and follow up action plans.
 * Undertake day‑to‑day administrative duties under JCT D&B or bespoke Development Agreements.
 * Identify and manage project risk, seeking guidance from senior colleagues when necessary.
 * Complete design checks and update tracker documents for contractual matters (section agreements, planning, pre‑handover information, etc.).
Qualifications
 * Full UK Driver’s Licence.
 * University degree in Quantity Surveying or a similar construction‑related subject.
 * MRICS or close to qualifying for MRICS.
Knowledge
 * Building construction.
 * Basic construction and property law.
 * Experience in residential development.
 * Construction costs/economics.
 * Pre‑contract matters and project life‑cycle management.
 * Comprehensive knowledge of the JCT D&B 2016 and 2024 contract.
 * Working knowledge of widely used building contracts.
Skills
 * Experience producing written reports.
 * Ability to work independently and supervise others.
 * Good interpersonal skills; able to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and the wider team; able to develop new business opportunities.
 * Detail‑oriented, diligent, and supportive of junior staff.
