The role
As a Installation CAD Engineer, you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary, collaborating with project managers to understand customer requirements and develop integration plans. Day-to-day, you'll work primarily employed in the Shore Integration Facility (SIF) and National Maritime Systems Centre (NMSC), Portsdown Technology Park (PTP), Portsmouth, assisting with the installation and de-installation of equipment into the SIF & NMSC.
1. Answerable to the Control Systems and instrumentation Team Lead.
2. Produce CAD drawings and other documentation to aid the installation of the equipment into the facilities. Electrical & Mechanical Drawings including (Not Exhaustive) Room layouts, Cable routes, Wiring Diagrams, Cable data sheets, Mechanical.
3. The SIF & NMSC is a facility that allows our customers to run ships equipment to carry out trails and scenario based evaluations.
4. You will be working with project managers to understand customer requirements and help create a plan to integrate the works necessary through the production and reviewing of (IGP’s) Installation Guidance Packages. You'll liaise with the Electrical and Mechanical fitting team to understand requirements for the design.
5. Adhere to the IGP KPI, which is a measuring tool to gauge the progress of the IGP Process.
6. Attend and have an active speaking part in meetings and reviews.
Essential Experience of the Installation CAD Engineer:
7. Analytical & investigative skills to turn basic requirements information into a comprehensive Installation Guidance Package
8. Proficient in a CAD software, mainly Solidworks and be able to create CAD drawings mainly 2D
9. An Electrical/Mechanical bias and with some form of electrical knowledge or competency
10. Be able to maintain a high level of performance under pressure
11. Experience of maritime systems and installation experience
Essential Qualification of the Installation CAD Engineer:
12. Understanding of DEF Stan 2-40 regulations.
13. Understanding of BS8888
