Job Description


Job Title: ReliefYouth Worker

Location: YMCA Black Countrylocations as required, including:

YMCA City Gateway, and Wrens Nest Dudley outreach locations

Responsible to: ProjectCoordinator

Working Hours: 0hour contract. We are currently looking to recruit relief youth workers thatcan support our community based activities in Term-time as well as in theHolidays.

Hourly rate: £12.21 perhour

Job Role: Thepost holder will work from the YMCA and various outreach locations within Wolverhampton/Sandwell/Dudley,delivering and supporting a variety of activities. You will work withina team and closely with the Project Coordinator to deliver a fun and engagingtimetable of activities.

Thepost holder must be able to respect the ethos of the YMCA and uphold its valuesof Compassion, Thrive, Hope and Inspire and share our commitment tosafeguarding.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Todeliver and support a variety of fun and engaging youth activities, supportingchildren and young people with their overall wellbeing.

2. To encourage childrenand young people to actively participate in the decision making processes ofthe programme.

3. Working with childrenand young people to build successful and trusting relationships to achievegreater impact and improved outcomes.

4. Maintaining up to daterecords of work completed with children and young people in accordance withGDPR and Data Protection policies.

5. Tocomplete training and follow risk assessments for activities and sessions.

6. Providing support tochildren and young people and assisting them to develop life skills.

7. Toparticipate in regular one to one reviews and be prepared to undertake trainingcourses appropriate to your role.

8. Provideassistance supporting and delivering activities, enforcing rules, modellingpositive behaviour.

9. Tosupport the project coordinator and team members overseeing session activitiesincluding maintaining safety of equipment, cleaning facilities and equipment,operating accessing I.T systems for recording of information when required.

10. Tobe youth work focused, polite, professional, engaging to all individuals andcolleagues, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

11. Motivateand inspire children and young people to develop their wellbeing throughvariety of coproduced session activities.

a. Quality standards are maintained to the highest level.

b. Policies and procedures are up to date and are being adhered to.

c. Safeguarding concerns are reported in line with YMCABC Groupsprocesses.

Partnership

1. Representthe interests of the YMCA at partnership / network meetings to promote and furtherdevelop the Ys Youth Programme.


General


1. Participatein staff meetings, provide regular feedback as appropriate.

2. Ensurethe health, safety and welfare of service users and volunteers in accordancewith the YMCAs Health & Safety Policy, and conduct risk assessments asappropriate.

3. Ensureall work practice is inclusive, expressed through a wholehearted commitment towelcome those of all faiths and none.

4. Undertakeany other related duties that are consistent with the job.


Person Specification



Experience of


Essential

Desirable

Working well within a team with the ability to also take initiative.

Experience of working with children and young people

Experience of developing session plans and facilitating/supporting delivery

Developing engaging session plans with clear aims and objectives

Working with children and young people with varying needs and challenges, (e.g. Anger issues, learning disabilities, behaviour.)

Partnership working and networking with a range of agencies.

Encouraging a healthy lifestyle, wellbeing for children and young people

Experience of dealing with compliments and complaints


Skills


Ability and confidence to deliver sessions to children/young people and to be able to maintain commitment and involvement.

Demonstrate empathy and regard for others and respect individual rights of autonomy and confidentiality.

Excellent administrative and accurate record keeping ability

Excellent interpersonal skills, which put children/young people, staff members and volunteers at ease.

Ability to apply knowledge to encourage and motivate children and young people to make positive change to their health and wellbeing.

Demonstrable time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise own workload

Ability to work as part of a team and under own initiative.

An ability to work alongside partner agency staff.

Knowledge

Knowledge of Holiday Activity Fund programme


General
