Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Senior/Room Leader to join our team. The successful candidate will support the Deputy Manager and Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery, while leading and managing their designated room to ensure children receive the highest standard of care and education.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
* Work alongside the Senior/Room Leader, Deputy Manager, and Nursery Manager to ensure smooth daily operations.
* Lead and manage your designated room, providing high-quality learning and care.
* Create and maintain a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment, following health and safety policies.
* Supervise, mentor, and support staff, volunteers, students, and placements.
* Promote team development through regular supervision, appraisals, and reflective practice.
* Plan and lead team meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
* Uphold and implement all nursery policies and procedures.
* Take on additional leadership responsibilities (e.g., SENCO, DSL) as required.
* Deliver a high standard of care and learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework.
* Keep accurate records of children's development through observations and assessments.
* Work in partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies to support children's well-being and development.
* Attend training and professional development sessions.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the Nursery Manager.

Person Specification
Essential
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Early Years.
* At least 2 years' experience in an early years setting.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
* Understanding of the EYFS curriculum and child development.
* Paediatric first aid qualification (within the last 3 years).
* Strong communication and leadership skills.
* Ability to motivate, support, and mentor a team.
* Organised, with the ability to prioritise and delegate effectively.
* Knowledge of room organisation and free-flow environments.
* Competent in using IT systems for record-keeping and communication.
* Professional, confident, and resilient.
* Flexible, adaptable, and passionate about child development.
Desirable
* At least 1 year of experience in a leadership role.
* Basic food hygiene certificate.
* Experience with Ofsted inspections and SEND support.
* Good standard of IT and numeracy skills.
* Desire to continue professional development (CPD).
* A sense of humour and collaborative approach to teamwork.
