Contract: Part-time, permanent
Working hours: 29 hours (breakdown to be discussed, with full-time hours on Mondays and Tuesdays)
We are seeking an accurate, detail-oriented individual with an analytical mind and a love for numbers to join us as a Payroll Assistant. If you enjoy calculations and processes, you could be the right-hand person to our Payroll Manager, providing a professional in-house payroll service at our modern South Oxfordshire HQ.
What you’ll be doing as Payroll Assistant
You will work alongside the supportive HR team to assist with two weekly payrolls covering around 550 employees across 15 sites, and monthly payrolls for approximately 300 employees. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Downloading new starters’ details for payroll system import.
2. Checking overtime, bonus payments, holiday, and sickness information; raising queries with managers and chasing documents like Self-Certificates and Fit Notes.
3. Verifying timesheets, ad-hoc bonus payments, expenses, and leave forms.
4. Understanding and applying statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP, and SAP.
What you’ll need
Experience in payroll administration is a plus, or a background working with numbers, such as bookkeeping or accounting. An excellent eye for detail and high accuracy are essential. Familiarity with admin processes, Microsoft Excel, databases, and HR/payroll systems is also desirable.
