Data Protection Advisor
Data Protection Advisor (Transformation)
Location: Hybrid working
You will support the Data Protection Officer in providing data protection compliance advice to Connells Group Companies, assisting with the identification and management of data protection risks arising from business operations and transformation programmes.
The transformation aspect to the role offers the opportunity to gain experience working with cross-functional teams throughout the group such as Group Technology, Security, Legal, Enterprise Risk, People Team, Group Companies, and external third-party providers.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Assist the Data Protection Officer in conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments for change programmes and new initiatives
2. Help maintain and update Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) across Group Companies
3. Assist in the review of Data Protection operational processes and identify areas for improvement
4. Support risk owners in identifying and applying controls to manage data protection risks.
5. Contribute to the development and maturity of the Data Protection programme and Project workstream alongside team colleagues
6. Support data protection training initiatives and awareness programmes
7. Support supplier and third-party due diligence reviews
We are looking for someone who has:
8. Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a data protection, compliance, or privacy-related role
9. Experience working in a commercial environment (B2C or B2B)
10. Understanding of data protection principles and regulatory requirements
11. Competently complete Data Protection Impact Assessments and Record of Processing Activities.
12. Good understanding of technology and data flows in business contexts
13. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
14. Good written and verbal communication skills
15. Ability to explain complex privacy concepts in simple terms
16. Strong organisational and time management skills
17. Good understanding of UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018
18. Knowledge of PECR requirements
19. Understanding of privacy by design principles
20. Awareness of individual rights under data protection law
