Would you like to work in one of the largest Private Housing Services in England, and help improve Bristol’s private rented sector housing standards?
Bristol is a vibrant city, with nearly 30% of Bristol's population living in the private rented sector. The Private Housing Service is currently preparing to expand its licensing teams starting in August 2024.
As a result, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a number of Private Housing Team Leader posts to lead a team of Environmental Health Housing Officers and or Caseworkers.
We are looking for someone who has both the technical expertise and supervisory skills to manage a small team of front-line officers who work on a part of the licensing process, such as;
Working with the Private Housing Manager and other Private Housing Team Leaders, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of licensing schemes across the city. You will be able to; allocate and monitor caseloads, support, coach and mentor less experienced colleagues and plan and deliver effective training programmes.
In addition to property licensing, the Private Housing Service is responsible for full range of private-sector housing issues including, empty-homes, service requests, policy and technical support. There may be opportunities in the future to work in these different areas.
Essential Requirements
You should have an extensive knowledge of a wide range of environmental health housing legislation, good practice and housing construction, as well as a good knowledge of residential tenancy legislation.
You will have extensive post-qualification environmental health housing practice with experience of inspections, scheduling, informal engagement, formal legal processes, and extensive experience of working in a customer-focussed front-line service.
Currently this post can be delivered by home working, however you are expected to travel to Bristol regularly as the service requires.
