There’s no shortage of commentary about social care. The real challenge is producing clear, credible stories that practitioners actually trust. This role is for an editor who cares about substance, structure and standards.
You will have the opportunity to represent a well-established title serving senior decision-makers across the care home sector. Publishing 10 issues a year, the magazine is positioned as a more rigorous, educational alternative to much of what exists in this market and the ambition is to keep raising the bar.
This is a 12-month maternity cover, but with a genuine longer-term view. The wider portfolio is growing and internal moves are common. The role would suit either a freelance journalist looking for a part-time structure, or a deputy editor/senior reporter ready to step up into full editorial ownership.
You’ll have day-to-day responsibility for shaping each issue, writing and commissioning original content, and maintaining strong relationships with industry bodies, contributors and commercial colleagues. While the sector isn’t highly technical, it rewards editors who can quickly understand an audience and ask the right questions.
