Overview
Working under the umbrella of the Staying Close team within Children’s Social care you will provide direct employment support to families at the SEND Family Hub and families at the broader Family Hub (Raise York) to access employment, training, learning and apprenticeship opportunities within the City of York. This role is front facing with a wide range of businesses and organisations and will require you to negotiate and broker commitments to support individuals in accessing employment and training opportunities to support their families. The role is designed to provide intensive employment and training support, and will involve working collaboratively with other Opportunities Brokers to ensure families receive a coordinated package of support. This is a hybrid role with work within the community and lone working. Your main office will be West Offices.
Responsibilities
* Provide direct employment support to families at the SEND Family Hub and the broader Family Hub (Raise York).
* Assess individual skills, interests and strengths and formulate career pathways to enable families to fulfil their potential and develop independence and stability.
* Broker commitments from businesses and organisations to support access to employment and training opportunities.
* Collaborate with other Opportunities Brokers to ensure a coordinated package of support for families.
* Engage in hybrid working arrangements, balancing community-based work and lone working as required.
Qualifications and requirements
* Ability to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public in spoken English to CEFR level C1 (fluent and spontaneous).
* Must be prepared to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
* Experience in frontline customer interaction and ability to explain and discuss information clearly with diverse audiences.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team; hybrid working arrangements are available and will be determined in collaboration with you and the recruitment process.
