The Role
Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, guiding your practice and clarifying responsibilities while meeting governing and professional body requirements. You will be responsible for holding a caseload, supported by a designated clinical supervisor and Lead Clinician, and contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
Essential Criteria
* Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree
* HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT
* Relevant experience engaging with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary working in a range of settings
* Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice
* Good relationship building, analytical and judgmental skills
* Good communication skills (oral and written)
* Good time management and organisational skills
* Competency in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
* Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and ability to formulate support plans based on needs profile
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management
* Ability to collaborate as part of the multi‑disciplinary team
* Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication strengths, differences, traits, difficulties and needs profile
* Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication
