An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Float Team Legal Secretary to join the Business Support Team of a Top 150 national law firm. With five offices across the Midlands and East Anglia, the firm has a strong reputation for building long-term client relationships and providing expert legal advice with a collaborative, one-team ethos.
Responsibilities include:
The Float Team Legal Secretary will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support across departments, working closely with fee earners, managers, and colleagues to ensure the smooth delivery of client service. This is a varied role that requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
* Providing typing, secretarial, and administrative support to fee earners.
* Preparing and transcribing correspondence and legal documents using digital dictation.
* Managing case management systems and ensuring documents are stored and organised electronically.
* Supporting file opening and closure procedures, including client care letters and compliance checks.
* Handling client enquiries, both in person and via telephone, in a professional and friendly manner.
* Assisting with completion statements, post-completion formalities, and managing client document requests.
* Managing diaries, arranging meetings, and organising travel as required.
* Supporting the wider Business Support Team, including switchboard cover, archiving, hospitality, and mail processing.
* Ensuring confidentiality and compliance with firm protocols, Lexcel guidelines, and professional standards.
What we need from you:
* Proficiency in digital dictation and strong IT literacy.
* Accurate keyboard skills and excellent attention to detail, spelling, and grammar.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt across different settings.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
* A proactive and flexible approach, with a problem-solving, "can-do" attitude.
* Previous experience in a professional environment, ideally with exposure to legal processes.
