Pharmacy Technician (Dispensary) Band 5

We have an opportunity for a patient-focussed, enthusiastic pharmacy technician to join our Dispensary team providing Pharmaceutical services to patients in the largest hospital in the Scottish Highlands.
This is a really exciting time to join our hospital pharmacy team. We utilise robotics in our dispensary and distribution services and have introducing a Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicine Administration (HEPMA) system as part of an ambitious collaboration across the six north board areas.
The successful applicant will assist with the operational management of the dispensary, whilst undertaking a variety of challenging roles within a continually changing and developing area. Duties will include staff training, supervision and development whilst participating in and implementing service improvements.
The successful applicant will have a sound knowledge of pharmacy practice, excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
You must be a pharmacy technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and be able to demonstrate a high level of professional practice and commitment to continuous professional development. This post requires post qualification knowledge and experience along with a recognised Dispensary or Accredited Accuracy Checking Qualification.
We have an excellent team of friendly Pharmacy staff committed to service modernisation and to developing the role of pharmacy technicians and support staff. We encourage our team to undertake further training and aim to support this as much as possible.
In addition to the advertised hours you will be required to participate in departmental rotas for weekend working and public holidays.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES
1. Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part-time hours will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
