We have a fantastic opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer - Continuous Improvement, based at our Dalton, Thirsk site. Our Commercial & Industrial division designs, fabricates and constructs structural steelwork for a variety of sectors including commercial offices, stadia & leisure, industrial & distribution, data centres, retail and health & education. The division has manufacturing sites in Dalton, Lostock and Enniskillen, each with full-service capabilities and modern manufacturing processes enabling us to provide high-quality products across the UK & Europe.
Vacancy Details
The purpose of this role is to lead on and develop lean manufacturing/ process improvement solutions at the Sherburn manufacturing site and wider business. Working across all departments within the business, you will seek new and innovative solutions to improve processes and systems while minimising / eliminating waste across the business. You will implement the Site Improvement Plan by leading improvement and installation projects, performing in-depth research and analysis of new systems and processes within the market for potential investment. You will manage multiple projects from conception through to delivery and commissioning, including developing business cases, financial budgets, resourcing, timelines and communicating cross-functionally. You will support the business with the execution of Automation and Diagnostics Strategies, being developed by the business, to guide site efficiency and productivity. Lead and facilitate projects to drive Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement, covering all Manufacturing, Capacity Planning and Maintenance activities including Inspection and Testing.
Key Skills & Experience
* Ideally you will have project management experience, and knowledge of delivering improvement projects to key business stakeholders including researching, showing good levels of budget control and financial awareness.
* Knowledge of Six Sigma is also advantageous.
* Strong analytical skills with a proven track record in technical problem-solving, along with a solid understanding of Six Sigma / Lean methodologies.
* Engineering Qualification (HNC, HND etc), degree or qualified by experience.
* General awareness of Manufacturing and automation systems and enabling software tools.
* You will need strong analytical skills and good verbal and written communication skills.
