Job responsibilities The Ward Manager will be responsible for the operational delivery of the 26 bedded, Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care unit, and 10 bedded Transitional care Unit, under the guidance of the Matron. The Ward Manager will support the Nursing, Medical and Allied Health Professional teams to set and deliver clinical standards for quality patient outcomes, monitoring clinical effectiveness, and undertaking audit programs, implementing actions plans if required. Ensuring clear lines of governance are in place and the delivery of the patient safety agenda is evident. The Ward Manager will be responsible in the HR management of NICU establishment taking lead responsibility for Sickness absence reporting and management, performance management working within Trust policy and procedure, Education and development of the NICU workforce. Ensuring key Trust and Directorate data is up to date demonstrating a well led and effective unit. The Ward Manager will work closely with the Maternity and Paediatric Management teams, will have oversight of the service delivery plans and challenge and will represent the NICU at operational and regional network meetings in the absence of the Matron. The Ward Manager will be responsible for the delivery of Senior Nurse meetings and Unit meetings producing minutes and action plans.
