Job Description:
As a Senior Ethics Manager, you will be involved in ensuring that our client, a leading UK audit firm, operates within a sound ethical environment, staying up-to-date and protected in areas such as audit independence and other ethical matters, both in the UK and internationally.
The role is suitable for a manager with experience in applying ethical standards or a similar regulatory framework, or a qualified accountant with audit experience. Knowledge of independence regulations and their impact on non-audit services is advantageous.
You should enjoy analyzing laws and regulations in detail and applying this knowledge practically in complex situations. The role involves significant interaction with partners and managers, requiring the ability to explain issues clearly to senior professionals.
Responsibilities:
1. Responding to ethical and independence queries from partners and staff regarding non-audit services, including regular contact with senior firm members.
2. Supporting the Ethics Director and Ethics Partner in designing and implementing systems, controls, and strategy for the ethics function.
3. Assisting junior team members with projects and queries.
4. Maintaining and updating the firm’s ethical and independence guidance.
5. Developing training materials and delivering training on ethical matters.
6. Responding to regulator queries alongside the Ethics Director and Partner.
7. Writing articles and materials on ethical topics for internal and external audiences.
Requirements:
1. Experience in a similar role applying ethical standards or regulatory frameworks, or qualified accountant with audit and independence experience.
2. Awareness of the ICAEW Code of Ethics and Financial Reporting Council’s Ethical Standards is beneficial but not mandatory.
3. Strong written and oral communication skills.
