Role: Shift Engineer
Location: Laforey Road, Grimsby
Shift: Week A: Friday 6‑12 or 12‑18; Saturday 5:30‑17:30
Week B: Sunday 5:30‑17:30; Monday‑Friday 14:00‑22:00
Week C: Monday‑Friday 5‑15

What we are looking for
We are looking for a professional and experienced Shift Engineer to join our growing Engineering team. As a Shift Engineer you will be a highly competent team member providing a safe and efficient engineering service to support production, and to ensure that a proactive approach is adopted to maintaining good machinery and operating efficiencies in a timely manner. The new hire will work collaboratively with other functions, taking a hands‑on approach, and providing support where required, outside core functional responsibilities.
Key responsibilities
* Ensure health and safety of yourself and others remains a priority during all activities.
* Correct or report any hazards that may lead to injury or food safety implications.
* Follow food safety legislation and good manufacturing practices.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times.
* Respond quickly to breakdowns and communicate handovers to Production appropriately.
* Diagnose faults, take corrective action to ensure continuous service and identify further improvements to increase equipment availability.
* Participate in a multi‑skilled team within own capabilities and undertake any training and development exercises to progress.
* Identify and share continuous improvement ideas that may contribute to health & safety, equipment uptime or maintenance cost improvements.
* Ensure planned maintenance work is completed on time and communicate any further work required to the Engineering Supervisor or Manager.
* Show flexibility to work across sites.
* Maintain a flexible approach to hours of work and work within the team to provide engineering cover to meet business needs.
* Maintain good food manufacturing practices at all times.
Required experience/expertise
* Time‑served craft apprenticeship or equivalent training to NVQ level 3.
* Multi‑skilled or working towards qualification.
* Team player with excellent communication skills.
* Highly motivated self‑starter with a can‑do, hands‑on approach.
* Flexible in work approach and able to demonstrate a proven track record within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
