Your new role
As the Health & Safety Manager, you will lead the organisation’s health and safety function, providing expert advice, strategic direction, and operational guidance. You’ll be responsible for developing and implementing proactive initiatives, conducting audits and inspections, managing accident investigations, and ensuringpliance with all relevant legislation. You’ll also oversee fire safety procedures and collaborate with counterparts in partner organisations to harmonise policies and practices.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading health and safety strategy and policy development.
2. Advising senior leadership and attending strategic meetings.
3. Conducting inspections, audits, and accident investigations.
4. Managing fire safety protocols and equipment.
5. Ensuring legislativepliance and liaising with external bodies.
6. Promoting and delivering health and safety training across the organisation.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
7. A Diploma-level qualification in Health & Safety.
8. Chartered Membership of IOSH (or working towards it).
9. NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate (desirable).
10. Experience in a large public sector organisation.
11. Proven ability to lead strategic health and safety initiatives.
12. Strong munication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
13. Confidence and credibility to influence senior stakeholders.
14. A proactive, innovative approach to problem-solving and change management.
