Job Description:

Provide professional leadership for complex case arrangements involving risk, complexity, and the safety of service users and others. Identify needs and strengths through assessment and source appropriate solutions and interventions.

Utilize analytical skills, interviews, and observations to inform assessments, decision-making, and interventions to achieve desired outcomes within the context of managing risk to children and young people with SEND.

Complete support planning with families, understanding child development, parenting capacity, and family and environmental factors to ensure outcomes identified at assessment are met (within budgetary constraints) through support provision.

Take a professional lead on safeguarding issues where abuse or neglect is suspected.

Assess and balance risk and protective factors within a child protection framework.

Provide specialist social work practice skills and knowledge to make independent decisions and support situations with high risk, ambiguity, or complexity.

Ensure adherence to legislation, including specific SEND legislation, and challenge decisions when appropriate.

Act as the lead professional, ensuring all child protection matters are addressed promptly, effectively, and in line with procedures, escalating as necessary.

Prepare written and verbal child protection plans, along with reports for courts and legal purposes, based on complex evidence to support problem solving and resolution.

Assess and manage risk, intervening proportionately to protect individuals from harm while respecting human rights.

Contribute to the Education, Health and Care Planning Review process, ensuring sufficient evidence supports decision-making.

Represent Cambridgeshire County Council at community levels and collaborate with key partner agencies to promote independence and source appropriate solutions for children and families.

Contribute to developing integrated services and policies, promoting innovative approaches to service user care considering resource constraints and national initiatives.

Share information about children with other agencies to safeguard and promote their welfare as appropriate.
