Phlebotomist

The phlebotomy team are staff members of Pathology at Royal Glamorgan Hospital. As a phlebotomist you will join the rota and will be required to collect blood samples, providing a service to the wards and outpatient department areas. A robust training programme will be given to ensure the appropriate skill and knowledge is achieved, ensuring a good quality of sample can be analysed accurately by Haematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Blood Bank.
The role will be based at Royal Glamorgan Hospital on a permanent full‑time post of 15 hours per week set over 5 days. When required you will join the team to deliver a safe and efficient phlebotomy service, providing cover on all sites within CTMUHB. The post holder will work closely with the phlebotomy supervisor and independently perform phlebotomy duties in the outpatient setting and ward areas within CTMUHB. We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable individual with good communication skills and a background in patient care. Venepuncture skill and knowledge are desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with the phlebotomy team and the supervisory staff to provide cover across all sites within CTMUHB. Maintain high standards of patient safety, hygiene and quality assurance.

* Knowledge of laboratory procedures
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill
* Good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent or equivalent skillsVenepuncture trained
* Understanding of a hospital environment
* Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are desirable for this role.
