Job Title: Consultant Radiologist with a sub-specialty interest in Chest Imaging
The Radiology department at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Radiologist with a sub-specialty interest in Chest Imaging. The position is 10 programmed activities (PAs) per week, with an additional PA for on-call commitments. Based primarily at The Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow, you may be asked to work at other Trust sites as needed.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Provide expert clinical care in Radiology, including outpatient, inpatient, community and on-call services.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions in hospital and community settings.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of integrated clinical guidelines and protocols.
* Supervise and support resident medical staff.
* Engage in clinical audit, quality improvement, and research activities.
* Participate in clinical governance and risk management.
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
* Collaborate with colleagues across departments and external partners.

Job description — Responsibilities and requirements
* Job responsibilities (overview): Provide expert clinical care in Radiology, including outpatient, inpatient, community and on-call services; participate in MDT meetings and case discussions; contribute to guidelines and protocols; supervise resident medical staff; engage in clinical audit, quality improvement, and research; participate in clinical governance and risk management; maintain documentation; collaborate with colleagues and external partners.
* Teaching and training: Provide teaching and mentorship to medical students, resident doctors, nurses and allied health professionals; participate in postgraduate education and training programmes.
* Research and innovation: Support or lead research within the department; contribute to publications and presentations at professional conferences.
* Management and leadership: Participate in departmental meetings and service planning; contribute to workforce planning and service redesign; take on leadership roles as appropriate within the department or Trust.
Person specification
Essential
* GMC registration with a licence to practise.
* CCT (or equivalent) in relevant specialty or within 6 months of achieving.
Desirable
* Subspecialty training aligned with service needs.
* Higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD) or additional postgraduate qualifications.
* Formal teaching qualification (e.g., PGCert in Medical Education).
Experience
* Broad and relevant clinical experience in the specialty.
* Experience in teaching and supervising resident doctors and medical students.
* Participation in clinical audit and quality improvement.
Desirable experience
* Experience in service development or redesign.
* Experience in curriculum development or educational leadership.
* Publications in peer-reviewed journals; involvement in clinical research or trials.
* Previous experience working in the NHS or similar healthcare system.
