Experience in general practice management, workforce leadership, financial oversight and regulatory compliance is desirable.

Job Title: Practice Manager

Line management of: Assistant Practice Managers, Nurse Manager, Senior Pharmacist
Role Purpose: The Practice Manager is the senior non-clinical leader of Myrtle Group Practice and holds overall responsibility for strategy, governance, organisational risk, and external assurance. As the Practice Manager, the post-holder provides strategic leadership across all non-clinical functions, ensuring the practice is well-led, compliant, sustainable, and continuously improving. The role acts as the principal interface between the Partners and external bodies including commissioners, regulators, and system partners. Operational delivery is delegated through appropriate leadership structures; the Practice Manager retains ultimate responsibility for outcomes, performance, and risk.
Core Accountabilities
1. Vision, Strategy and Culture
Lead the development, implementation, and review of the practice vision and strategic plan, ensuring alignment with patient needs, contractual requirements, and system priorities.
Promote a clear set of values and behaviours that underpin high-quality, patient-centred care.
Provide strategic advice, challenge, and insight to the GP Partners to support informed decision-making.
Foster a culture of openness, learning, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Ensure staff understand how their roles contribute to the strategic direction of the practice.
Lead on income generation including both NHS and non-NHS income streams.
2. Governance, Risk and Assurance
Act as the responsible lead for practice governance, ensuring robust systems for quality, safety, compliance, and performance oversight.
Ensure continuous improvement is embedded and demonstrable.
6. Change Management and Organisational Development
Lead and oversee organisational change, ensuring change is planned, risk-assessed, and aligned to strategic priorities.
Ensure workforce and service resilience during periods of transformation.
Develop and present business cases and strategic proposals to the Partners.
Monitor impact and benefits realisation, adapting approach in response to risk or system change.
7. Resource Stewardship and Sustainability
Hold strategic responsibility for the effective stewardship of practice resources, including financial sustainability, estates, digital systems, and information governance.
Ensure appropriate controls, assurance mechanisms, and oversight arrangements are in place.
Identify and mitigate financial, operational, information, and reputational risks.
Ensure resources are aligned to strategic priorities and deliver value for patients and the partnership.
