Cardiac Day Unit & Cardiac Catheter Lab
The cardiac day unit and cardiac catheter lab at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and motivated band 5 registered nurse to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in cardiology within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
We provide a diagnostic cardiology service to adult patients in Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr Tydfil, including outpatient diagnostic coronary angiograms, cardiac implantable devices (including complex devices and implantable loop recorders), and transoesophageal echocardiograms.
The post holder will work as part of the cardiac catheter lab team and in the cardiac day unit, rotating between both. Responsibilities include assisting cardiologists during diagnostic angiograms and device implant procedures, with duties involving scrub and circulating roles while wearing ionising radiation protective aprons. When rotating to the cardiac day unit, responsibilities include pre- and post-procedure care from admission to discharge, and participating in pre-assessment clinics for patients scheduled for procedures.
The roles are full-time (Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm) and part-time (30 hours per week, four days a week, 8am to 4pm).
The ideal candidate will be an adult registered nurse with sufficient post-qualification experience in an acute healthcare setting. No prior cardiac catheter lab experience is necessary, as full training will be provided. We seek an enthusiastic nurse with a passion for cardiology, a desire to learn new skills, and a patient-centered approach.
Proficiency in Welsh is desirable; bilingual Welsh/English speakers are equally encouraged to apply.
Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is part of NHS Wales, serving around 450,000 people across Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, and Rhondda Cynon Taff.
