This is an exciting new role within the Care of the Elderly. There is an opportunity for both permanent full-time and part-time (up to 30 hours) roles for the position of Clinical Coordinator.
The Pinderfields Acute Assessment Care of the Elderly Unit, G41, is a busy 44-bed assessment unit that takes direct admissions from the Mid Yorkshire Trust's 3 Accident and Emergency departments as well as GP referrals. We are also recruiting for G42, a busy 45-bed Elderly Medicine and Neck of Femur unit, G43, a 44-bed Elderly Medicine Unit, and Gate 44, a 40-bed elderly medical unit.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join us as a Clinical Coordinator, eager to develop their knowledge and skills. Your duties will include supporting the nurse in charge by managing patient flow through the department, ensuring the safe admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
To be considered, you must have clinical experience. Experience in managing patient flow is preferable but not essential for the right candidate. Ideal candidates will demonstrate good organisational skills, logical thinking, the ability to prioritise workloads, and support the nurse in charge regarding patient flow.

* Carry out administration duties supporting departmental targets and ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures.

Job Responsibilities
* Update the Patients Administrative System daily, accurately recording admissions, discharges, transfers, and deaths.
* Maintain accurate records of patient flow.
* Support ward coordination, managing patient flow, handling telephone enquiries, and contacting families, maintaining confidentiality.
* Provide cover for absent colleagues under supervision.
* Update knowledge of internal software such as PAS, Symphony, and PPM+.
* Process referrals promptly and sensitively, informing clinical staff as needed.
* Undertake extended clinical skills such as venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation, and ECG recording.
* Support Infection Control and Prevention initiatives.
* Provide essential patient care when required, supporting registered nurses and Healthcare Assistants in line with the Band 6 AAU Coordinator role.
