Senior CE&I Engineer - Sellafield Projects
Contract | £51-£56/hour (Inside IR35)
Warrington | Hybrid - 3 days on site / 2 days remote
Are you a Senior Control, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer looking to apply your expertise within one of the UK's most complex nuclear environments? We are seeking a Senior CE&I Engineer to support a range of engineering and decommissioning projects across the Sellafield programme, delivering robust CE&I design and safety documentation within a highly regulated setting.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant nuclear decommissioning work, supporting the delivery of safety-critical systems that underpin long-term hazard reduction at Sellafield.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver CE&I design work packages across a variety of nuclear engineering and decommissioning projects
Produce and check design substantiation, safety documentation, and technical deliverables
Provide expert CE&I input into design justification and safety case documentation
Develop and review functional safety deliverables in line with IEC 61508 (up to SIL 1)
Resolve complex technical issues using safe, compliant, and pragmatic engineering solutions
Support installation, commissioning, and documentation activities where required
What We're Looking For
CEng or IEng preferred, or equivalent experience
Strong background in CE&I design within nuclear or other highly regulated industries
Demonstrated experience delivering fit-for-purpose engineering solutions to time and budget
Solid understanding of functional safety, SIL-rated systems, and safety case development
Ability to communicate complex technical issues and solutions clearly to stakeholders
Technical Knowledge & Standards
Experience or familiarity with:
CE&I regulations and standards including CDM, PUWER, BS EN 13849 / 62061, BS 7671
Industrial installation standards, UKCA / CE marking
Engineering drawings, calculations, and design documentation
Desirable Skills
Design risk assessments, installation method statements, and engineering output packs
Panel build documentation, technical files, and O&M manuals
Experience with PLC / SCADA control systems and industrial network architectures
A pragmatic, risk-based engineering approach grounded in sound judgement
