Social Worker – Children with Disabilities Team – London Borough of Newham

Closing date: 31/10/25. Hybrid role – Newham Dockside E16 2QU. Salary: £46,133 - £57,194 (includes market supplement).

Responsibilities

You will work a varied caseload within the Children with Disabilities (CwD) Social Work Team, providing statutory services to children and families living with disability. Caseload may include new referrals, Children in Need (CiN), Child Protection (CP), and looked after cases. This is long-term, rewarding work aimed at improving quality of life for children and families.

Our practice is underpinned by Systemic and Restorative approaches with high-quality relationships at the heart of our work. You will be involved in all aspects of social work relevant to the role and may engage in court work and looked-after processes as appropriate.

About You

You are a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England, with ASYE completed and statutory children’s social work experience. Experience supporting children living with disability is essential. We are open to social workers with extensive experience in other statutory teams, provided you have a firm understanding of how SEND affects families and processes surrounding children and young people with disabilities.

Key attributes include patience, empathy, resilience, the ability to build trust with families, and strong advocacy for children and their families. You should be able to work effectively in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
