Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor (English & Maths) Location: Sutton Hours: 16 hours per week Schedule: 4 days per week, 2:00pm - 6:00pm Student: 1:1 support for a male student Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and patient Functional Skills Tutor to provide tailored English and Maths support to a male student in Sutton. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, structured sessions that build confidence, improve core skills, and support the learner's individual educational goals. This is a part-time position suitable for an experienced tutor, teacher, or learning support professional with a strong understanding of Functional Skills delivery. Key Responsibilities Deliver 1:1 Functional Skills English and Maths sessions Plan and adapt lessons to meet the student's learning needs and ability level Support the development of literacy, numeracy, communication, and confidence Monitor progress and maintain brief session records Create a positive, supportive, and professional learning environment Encourage motivation, engagement, and independent learning skills Requirements Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills English and Maths Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patient, reliable, and adaptable approach Ability to engage and motivate learners on a 1:1 basis Relevant teaching, tutoring, or educational qualifications preferred Enhanced DBS check preferred or willingness to obtain one Working Hours 4 days per week 2:00pm - 6:00pm Total: 16 hours per week Location Sutton In-person delivery Pay Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience and qualifications
