Leader Education are recruiting a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within a SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Cramlington, Northumberland.
The school hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30-4:30 and 8:30-4:00 on a Friday.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate individual who is committed to supporting young people with additional emotional and behavioural needs. You will play a key role in supporting learning, managing behaviour positively, and helping pupils reach their full potential in a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting pupils with SEMH needs both in and out of the classroom
Delivering planned learning activities under the direction of teaching staff
Managing behaviour in line with school policies
Supporting pupils’ emotional, social, and academic development
Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
HLTA qualification or equivalent relevant experience
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (desirable)
A valid DBS on the Update Service, or the willingness to obtain one
Strong communication and behaviour management skills
A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach
