As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Panel Beater to join our expanding team in East Grinstead.
Your role
As a Panel Beater, you will be responsible for repairing a wide range of motor vehicles to manufacturer standards, using approved repair methods. You will work as part of a skilled and supportive team, delivering high-quality workmanship at every stage of the repair process.
Your responsibilities will include stripping and refitting parts where necessary, ensuring correct panel alignment and adjustments, and identifying any additional damage not included in the original job scope. You will assess vehicle structure and paintwork, ensure all completed vehicles meet safety standards, and manage the safe removal and storage or disposal of components, fluids, and gases.
You will carry out quality control inspections and sign off repairs at each stage, follow approved repair methods such as e-scribe and manufacturer guidance, and ensure these are clearly visible on each job. Protective coverings must be used on all vehicles, and filler repairs completed to a P180 finish with checks for pinholes. You will also apply underseal, weld-through primers and anti-corrosion treatments where required, while maintaining tools and equipment and reporting any defects to your line manager.
Skills and experience
We are looking for someone with previous experience in a similar panel beating role. Manufacturer training or qualifications are preferred, along with a current AOM009 welding certificate or BS equivalent. Experience in MIG brazing, spot welding, riveting and bonding techniques is important, as is an awareness of high-strength and Boron steels.
A Light MET qualification linked to ATA would be advantageous, as would bonding certification. A full UK driving licence is required. Most importantly, we are seeking someone with a proactive, can-do attitude who works well as part of a team.
