We aim to recruit a dynamic Practice Development Nurse to join our team with relevant Adult and Paediatric Emergency Department experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills with empathy and compassion at the heart of the care that they provide. You will be expected to deliver high quality, clinical care, and ensure the development of nurses and HCSWs, promoting and maintaining high standards of nursing care within the current service. You will be actively involved in shaping the future of the Emergency Department and will be supported in achieving your career goals in relation to developing clinical, teaching and education skills.
You will nurture the team, focussing on their development and be an example of clinical excellence within the ED leadership team.
You will have significant Emergency Department nursing experience but you will also have some Paediatric Emergency Department experience and may be required to work as a Practice Development Nurse in both Adult and Paediatric departments. It is essential that the successful candidate is confident to role model and teach in all clinical areas, and the successful candidate will have qualifications in both emergency and trauma care. You will also be committed to patient care and staff development with a desire to promote change and development throughout this energised team.
Main duties of the job
The Practice Development Nurse aims to facilitate service improvement and high-quality clinical care through the provision of effective patient centred evidence-based care in line with local and corporate strategies, reflecting the Trust visions and values. The Practice Development Nurse will lead by example and provide professional, clinical, educational and organisational leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
The Practice Development Nurse will also develop and deliver a successful clinical learning environment which responds to the changing face of health care.

Essential criteria
1. -Adult NMC Registration
2. -ALS
3. -Intravenous accreditation
4. -Relevant degree level clinical course
5. -Specialist Practice Course (ED Course, RCN Level 2 competencies, Level 2 Trauma course)
6. -Teaching and assessment qualification (e.g. ENB 998/equivalent or City & Guilds 730)
7. -ILS
Desirable criteria
8. -Paediatric NMC registration (dual qualification)
9. -Advanced Paediatric Life Support/EPALS
10. -Masters level, or working towards, in Nursing/Education/ Research
11. -GIC and Instructor status for ALSG course(s)
