Main duties of the job
1. Maintain and repair a wide range of Mechanical, Electrical, Medical Plant & Equipment, and Building faults.
2. Deputise for Team Leaders.
3. Undertake Authorised Person/Competent Person roles, e.g., Legionella, medical gases pipeline systems, electrical safety, and ventilation.
4. Coordinate with approved Contractors for maintenance, breakdowns, and repairs.
5. Be included on the On-Call Rota to handle emergency and urgent situations outside of core hours.
6. Respond to Major incidents such as loss of electrical services, medical gases, heating, and hot water in critical areas.
7. Assist in motivating, training, and developing the maintenance team and apprenticeship schemes, ensuring efficient use of resources.
8. Plan and execute maintenance and repairs of Mechanical and Electrical plant, equipment, and services.
9. Escalate calls to team leaders for contractor involvement during breakdowns and repairs.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Completed a 4-year apprenticeship with City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 qualification.
* Mechanical/plumbing training for Electricians or Electrical training for Mechanical Technicians.
* Ongoing training to stay current with Electrical Regulations.
* Competent person status, e.g., Medical Gas Authorised Person, Electrical Training, Legionella responsible person training.
Knowledge and Experience
* Significant post-qualification experience as an Engineering Maintenance Craftsman, Electrician, or Mechanical Engineer, with the ability to be on call.
* Proven communication skills.
* Multiskilled in Mechanical, Building, and Electrical Maintenance.
* Deep knowledge of Engineering Systems and maintenance experience, ideally in healthcare.
Skills
* Complex fault diagnosis skills.
* Ability to plan and prioritize work.
* Proficiency with computer-controlled systems.
* Commitment to personal development and understanding of equalities issues.
* Experience with computer-based Risk and Asbestos Registers.
