Overview
An opportunity has arisen to join our team as a locum Consultant Cardiologist at Colchester General Hospital, with service growth to meet increasing outpatient demands. The post will be based at Colchester Hospital with potential split-site arrangements to Ipswich Hospital or the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (CTC) in Basildon, depending on the applicant's abilities.
The post-holder will join a team of 7 other cardiologists covering interventional, imaging and complex devices subspecialties. The service aims to move toward 7/7 inpatient ward support in the future.
Responsibilities
* General responsibilities including participation in the consultant on-call rota
* Specialist clinics and outpatient clinics
* Operating in accordance with specialty requirements
* Teaching and training of junior staff and undergraduates
* Clinical governance and administration as required
* Participation in clinical service development and expansion, including cath-lab sessions where appropriate
* Support for inpatient and outpatient care and engagement with other multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications
* MRCP or equivalent and full GMC registration
* Inclusion on the Specialist Register of the GMC in Cardiology or within six months of CCST at interview date
* Competence in dual chamber pacing is encouraged; all subspecialties will be considered
Clinical Details
The post-holders will undertake clinics and opportunities for cath-lab sessions. The post is to cover a gap from 13th October to 31st December. The service currently comprises a 6/7 day rota on a 1-in-6 basis, with plans for expansion to 7-day cover. Cardiology advice outside of on-site hours is provided by the on-call service at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (via phone advice and transfer when necessary).
