Recruitment Officer (Volunteer Mentor Recruitment Officer)

Join Off The Curriculum as a Volunteer Mentor Recruitment Officer and use your professional expertise to grow a diverse, skilled mentor network. You’ll design outreach campaigns, screen candidates, and directly enable young people to access life‑changing guidance and career insights.

What difference will you make?

By leading mentor recruitment, you will directly increase the number and diversity of mentors, enabling more students to access high‑quality guidance and career insights. This work supports OTC’s mission to bridge the gap between school and adult life, strengthen programme quality, and help the organisation grow into a professional, sustainable charity with a gold‑standard volunteer experience.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a professional volunteer with at least 3 years’ experience in recruitment, volunteer management, HR, or marketing. The ideal candidate will be confident in applying their expertise to grow and maintain a high‑quality mentor network.

Key qualities and experience include

* Excellent multi‑channel communication skills and ability to build networks across organisations, universities, and professional groups.
* Experience in recruitment, including interviewing, shortlisting, onboarding, and volunteer engagement.
* Strong social media skills to support outreach campaigns and create engaging recruitment content.
* Independent and collaborative working skills, able to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with different teams.
* Effective time management and organisational ability to track applications and recruitment metrics.
* Commitment to OTC’s values of equity, inclusion, and safeguarding in all volunteer interactions.
* This role is strategic and hands‑on, offering an opportunity to directly shape OTC’s mentor network and impact the lives of young people across the UK.

What will you be doing?

* Design and implement strategic outreach campaigns to recruit new mentors, including leveraging social media, professional networks, university job boards, and volunteering platforms.
* Collaborate with Communications and Marketing leads to create engaging recruitment content (digital flyers, social posts, newsletters) that communicates OTC’s mission and impact.
* Screen, shortlist, and interview candidates, assessing suitability, motivation, and alignment with programme values.
* Maintain accurate records of applicants and recruitment metrics using CRM tools or spreadsheets.
* Build relationships with partner organisations, businesses, and universities to expand long‑term mentor pipelines.
* Ensure all recruitment activities uphold OTC’s safeguarding, inclusion, and equity standards.

This role is strategic, requiring at least 3 years’ professional experience in recruitment, volunteer management, HR, or marketing, and is vital to scaling OTC’s mentor network sustainably.
