Senior Highway Adoption and Agreements Engineer
Join to apply for the Senior Highway Adoption and Agreements Engineer role at North Northamptonshire Council
About the Role
North Northamptonshire is growing and evolving rapidly as a Council and a Community. It is an exciting time to be joining us. With growth comes development, from house extensions to urban extensions, warehouses to wind farms, and one person’s dream is another’s nightmare. Development is challenging; are you up for that challenge? The Development Liaison Team brings together the Council’s highway advice, highway adoption and highway agreement services supported by our partners in Kier Highways. This small but dedicated team needs you to meet the challenges ahead. As our Senior Highway Adoption and Agreements Engineer you will provide the vital highway engineering knowledge and experience the Council needs to ensure new roads, streets and highway improvements are fit for purpose and comply with our exacting standards. We look forward to you helping us shape our new and emerging communities whilst protecting our existing vibrant historic towns and villages.
Key Responsibilities
You will negotiate legal agreements, including those under Section 38 and Section 278 of the Highways Act 1980, required to facilitate new development. You will lead on providing technical and engineering advice and support for the Council to ensure developer proposals comply with local and national standards, working with developers to get new roads adopted. You will manage a small team with big responsibilities vital to ensuring the Council’s aims and objectives of supporting appropriate development and growth are achieved.
About You
You will be a suitably experienced and qualified engineer familiar with local government and development processes, the planning system and highway adoption mechanisms. You have experience in highway design and managing a team with multiple schemes, balancing priorities and resources both internal and external to deliver the services necessary to facilitate development.
