Overview
Digital Trading Lead - Outdoor is part of the JD Outdoors group within JD Sports Fashion Plc. The role focuses on driving commercial performance across online channels (Blacks website and online stores) with responsibility for trading strategy, onsite merchandising, and cross-functional collaboration to maximise sales, margin and conversion. The position reports to the Head of Digital Trading and leads the Digital Trading Team in a fast-paced, performance-focused environment.
Responsibilities
* Regularly review, evaluate and benchmark the fascia proposition to deliver the sales and profit plan. Develop a Blacks trading plan with the Head of Digital Trading and align with stakeholders to deliver it.
* Deliver revenues in line with the budget and ensure cost controls are in place so the sales and profit plan is achieved within budgeted marketing costs.
* Be responsible for overall sales, profit and EBIT generation, working with performance and supply chain to control costs in line with the trade plan.
* Identify, manage and mitigate risks to trading performance; develop mitigation plans before they impact business performance.
* Align market trading plans with Retail & Marketing to deliver omni-channel campaign execution.
* Collaborate with Performance & Loyalty teams to drive trade across omni-channel channels (CRM, Paid, SEO, Affiliates).
* Interrogate, test and improve all elements of the customer experience to improve KPIs such as search, navigation, photography, copy, online merchandising, checkout and account management.
* Determine enhancements and upgrades required for the website to meet current and future business needs; develop business cases and present to senior management.
* Work with internal Analytics teams and third-party tools to derive insights to support trade activity.
* Understand Blacks customer and product profiles; collaborate with loyalty and marketing to attract and convert relevant customers and provide feedback on user behaviour and demographics (e.g., device usage and channels).
* Monitor customer lifecycle, retention and re-engagement rates; work with Loyalty team to improve.
* Serve as the Digital face of the Blacks strategy and integrate digital touchpoints and journeys into planning.
* Plan key launches and sell-through rates for new or seasonal products.
* Build strong relationships with Operational, Marketing & Retail teams and with suppliers/partners to ensure effective delivery of services and prompt issue resolution.
* Lead, motivate and develop the Digital Trading Team; ensure clear job descriptions and KPIs; hold weekly team meetings to keep the team updated.
* As part of the Digital Trading Management Team, model best practice and focus on key KPIs: Sales via digital channels, GPV, Contribution, Traffic, Conversion Rate.
Skills and Experience
* Essential: Proven experience in a digital trading or ecommerce role within retail or consumer brands.
* Strong analytical and commercial acumen; able to use data to inform decisions.
* Experience with ecommerce platforms and proficiency with Google Analytics or similar analytics tools.
* Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Desirable: Experience within the outdoor, fashion, or multi-brand retail sector; team leadership or line management experience.
