Child Protection Conference Chair, Children's Social Care – Rotherham, South Yorkshire
It is a very exciting time to work for Rotherham, following our OUTSTANDING Ofsted inspection in October 2025 there is excitement in the air at how incredibly lucky we are to work for an authority with such passion, drive and commitment to children and families.
A rare opportunity has arisen to work in our Safeguarding Unit as a Child Protection Conference Chair. The role is 0.7fte, (3.5 days per week with flexibility to spread this over a fortnight). We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced Social Work leader to join our service and continue in the delivery of outstanding services.
What we're looking for:
* You will have substantial Social Work experience to advanced/senior practitioner or Team Manager level, with a sound knowledge and application of policy, legislation, thresholds, decision making and safety planning according to family need and risk
* A good understanding of what Outstanding intervention and safeguarding looks like for families
* Understanding of the IRO handbook and its application in practice
* Confidence and ability to work constructively with senior managers, partnership and workforce, offering a critical perspective and appropriate challenge
* Experience of using performance analysis and audit to thematically and systemically inform and improve practice and experience enacting duties as a leader in practice
* Experience supporting services to ensure timeliness, quality and proportionality for children subject to Child Protection planning, PLO or care proceedings.
