An exciting global power technology organisation is looking to recruit a Senior VAT Analyst to join their team at their office in Huddersfield on a hybrid, full-time basis. The company operates across components, engine, distribution, and power systems worldwide. It is a well-established, highly respected organisation seeking an experienced professional in corporation tax and management to support their fast-paced group.
Your new role
As a Senior VAT Analyst, you will report to the UK and Europe Director for VAT. Your responsibilities include managing VAT compliance across UK and European entities, liaising with external compliance providers, collaborating with internal stakeholders, leading process reviews, optimizing foreign VAT recovery, supporting audits, mitigating risks, and providing VAT guidance for business projects.
* Ensure Compliance: Manage the monthly VAT compliance process for all UK & European entities within the Drivetrain Braking Systems business.
* External Relationships: Maintain the relationship with the external VAT compliance provider, ensuring efficient end-to-end processes.
* Collaboration: Work closely with finance and IT stakeholders to provide VAT-related guidance.
* Proactive Review: Lead process reviews to ensure VAT controls are secure.
* Maximize VAT recovery: Work with external providers to maximize foreign VAT reclaims.
* Audit Support: Assist with VAT audit information requests and respond to tax authority interventions.
* Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate risks, contributing to UK HMRC compliance.
* Project support: Provide VAT expertise for business projects requiring careful VAT consideration.
What you'll need to succeed
* Tax Qualification and Experience: CTA qualification (or equivalent) and 2-3 years of VAT experience.
* Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK and EU VAT principles.
* Analytical Skills: Attention to detail for reviewing VAT returns and identifying follow-up actions.
* Communication and Problem-Solving: Effective collaboration and issue resolution skills.
