Space Planner
Reports to: Head of Commercial
Location: Space NK, Capper Street, London
Working Location: Hybrid working with a minimum of 2-3 days in the office
Role Overview
This NEW role offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact by taking ownership of the current space planning function. A key priority will be to assess and evolve the existing critical path, currently spread across multiple teams, into a streamlined, cohesive approach to range and space planning. The successful candidate will help define a new ownership structure and establish clear processes across the commercial functions. As the department evolves, so too will the scope of this role, expanding to lead long-term initiatives that support scalable change within Space Planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Macro Space Planning
Define, lead, and deliver the overall space planning strategy to meet both the short- and long-term needs of Space NK.
Evaluate and evolve the current macro space planning process, guidelines and metrics with a ‘customer first’ mindset.
Develop an end-to-end critical path for macro space planning, establishing a new ownership structure to drive operational efficiencies
Assess the productivity of space and fixturing across the store estate to optimize sales and customer performance.
Data Analysis and Insights
Analyse sales and customer performance data to generate space productivity insights and commercial recommendations
Monitor performance metrics, such as sales and units per square foot, stock turnover and profitability to identify improvement opportunities.
Prepare and present to stakeholders, outlining the impact of space planning initiatives on sales and profitability.
New Store Management
Support new store openings and refurbishments with optimised layout solutions
Collaborating with Retail and Category teams to drive and complete Macro planning.
Conduct post opening analysis on assortment, performance and lessons.
Project & Cross Functional Management
Lead space planning projects and develop project timelines, allocate resources, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
Partner with Merchandising Tech Lead and Merchandising Project Manager to drive data and reporting.
Partner with Category teams, Store Ops, Inventory and VM to align space planning efforts with broader business objectives.
Present layouts, strategies, and data-driven recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
Proven track record in space planning within a multi-site retail environment
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insight
Proficiency in data tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, Qliksense or similar platforms. Experience with Space Planning tools would be beneficial
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
A motivated self starter who is keen to be the driving force of this newly created business function
