You’ll be the person keeping the financial engine running smoothly; recording transactions, sorting out reconciliations, posting journals, keeping everything neat and tidy while the rest of the business is knee-deep in tents, invoices and muddy wellies.
You’ll work alongside someone who actually knows what they’re doing (refreshing, right?) and a bunch of operational people who will probably test your patience now and again.
There’ll be busy months, and there’ll be quieter months. You’ll need to roll with it, get your head down when it’s manic, tidy up and improve stuff when it’s calm.
Responsibilities
* Keep the books straight and up to date
* Reconcile the GBP and Euro accounts (because one currency is never enough)
* Post month-end journals
* Prep accounts to trial balance
* Pull together reports for the senior team when they need numbers that make sense
* Make sure transactions stick to accounting standards and internal controls
* Keep the purchase order process tight and payments organised
* Spot ways to make the finance side faster and cleaner
* Help out with VAT returns (UK and Ireland) and liaise with external accountants
* Lend a hand with payroll checks when things get busy
Qualifications
* To actually know Xero, not just have heard of it
* An eye for detail that borders on obsessive
* A calm head when deadlines pile up
* To be at least AAT Level 4 or part-qualified CIMA/ACCA
* A driving licence (it's Tockwith, not Zone 2 London)
