Here at Virgin Atlantic, our Aeronautical Services team plays a key role within Flight Operations. We are constantly working to ensure we have everything in place to guarantee the safe and efficient running of our operation. We have a great opportunity for an Aeronautical Services Officer to join us and play a key part in making this happen!
In a nutshell
Bringing your enthusiasm and passion for aviation to this role, you will maintain and optimise data in our Flight Planning, Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), and aircraft flight management systems. This role requires high standards, often under tight deadlines, with the flexibility to adapt to changing needs. You will collaborate with various stakeholders across Virgin Atlantic, including Airports, Government Affairs, Finance, Network and Alliances, Safety, and Engineering, to ensure operational success.
Day to day
Using your focus and attention to detail, you will evaluate the impact of data or airspace changes on our operations, providing support to our 24/7 Operational Control Centre team, and applying navigation and Air Traffic Management (ATM) expertise to Virgin Atlantic. Your responsibilities include:
* Reviewing navigation data and airspace changes, maintaining Flight Planning, NOTAM, and FMS databases, navigation charts, and related procedures.
* Designing and maintaining navigational chart content and specifications.
* Managing applications for seasonal and ad-hoc operating permits and approvals.
* Conducting block time/fuel burn analysis to support commercial planning.
* Developing relationships with third-party suppliers and external stakeholders.
* Analyzing industry developments and regulatory changes within Navigation and ATM, and reporting findings and recommendations.
* Assisting with budgetary compliance related to Air Traffic Control user charges.
About you
* A creative thinker with a passion for developing solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Excellent attention to detail, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Knowledge of flight planning, aircraft navigation systems, and related disciplines.
* Experience in supplier invoice management is desirable.
