Role
Day Surgery Unit (DSU) at the New Victoria Hospital (NVACH) is looking for an Anaesthetic / Post Anaesthetic Care Unit Practitioner (PACU). You must be a First Level Registered Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner. Experience in the Anaesthetic / PACU environment is desirable.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
* Location based in New Victoria Hospital
* Permanent Contract
* Full‑time position (36 hours per week)
* Shift pattern Monday – Friday 0800‑1800x2, 0800‑1730x2
Key responsibilities
* To assess patient needs, plan/implement and evaluate a programme of person‑centred care which is evidence‑based and utilises all available resources, considering lifestyle, gender and cultural background, and ensuring involvement with the patient, family, carers and significant others.
* Maintain patient records in line with NMC/HPC guidelines for record‑keeping.
* Practice within the legal and ethical framework established by the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) and National Health Service (NHS) legislation.
* Work within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) legislation, policy, guidelines and procedures.
* Empower patients to take responsibility for their health, well‑being and future lifestyle by practising in an open, transparent and inclusive manner.
* Respect confidential information and refrain from disclosing it without consent, except where required by law.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required
* First Level Registered Nurse on the NMC register (Paediatric & adult trained) (Part 1, 7 and 12)
* OR Registered Operating Department Practitioner on the HPC register
* Ability to work required shifts, including night duty and public holidays.
* Ability to work on any site within Greater Glasgow & Clyde when required.
Desirable
* Recent experience in an operating theatre or immediate post‑operative recovery room environment.
* Post‑registration qualification relevant to peri‑operative care.
